- Top 5 live performances of Roy Khan (Kamelot, Conception) as ranked on DigitalDreamDoor forums.nutsie.c...
When I say 'top performances' I am referring to the vocals performed throughout the entire song, not just the isolated clips I am presenting. I am just showing the main/key/most impressive parts of the song for the sake of time. If you are curious or like what you hear I highly suggest checking out the tracks in their entirety to get a true feel for the vocals.
Well.. He's a genius to me because: his vocal were amazing, he truly sings from all of his body, he sings like was made of music, just look at his gestures, mimic especially on part when he sings "Elizabeth". His genius is also shown in his perfect songwriting. And, as a true fan of Kamelot i felt sad when he annouced his departure from Kamelot i thought "At least he left the band when he was at the top of his career, not on the bottom" and we have to respect his decisions, no matter how terrible to us, Kamelot fans, they might be. greetings from Poland!
One of the best vocalists ever!!! His voice is so marvelous!!! If I were a male I'd love to sing like Dio or Roy Khan!!! 💜
yes, dio and roy!
💖
@FatalPies Tate sang crazy high notes but I prefer Khan's timbre and velvet lows(especially). Always
He can, easily, be one of the best singer ever!!
this dude is seriously talented
his voice is magical ❤ we miss you Roy 😢
He's back😁 Search for conceptionmusic
Man.. I like Tommy Karevik very much, but Roy can make a grown man cry with his voice. No lie. This man makes me feel shit I didn't think I could.
"One Cold Winter's Night" - the best concert ever :x
Once I heard Elizabeth live I knew Roy Khan was the best vocalist I have heard.
@FatalPies there are many perfect vocalists..it s a matter of personal taste
@Neueregel totally agree. I'm a Conception fan since 1993 and they were the best prog metal band of history. Roy's voice and Tore guitars were amazing!
Ppl who were on his concerts are so lucky)
HE IS BACK BOIS AND GIRLS !
Best singer ever ♡
What about Memento Mori At Belgrade?
#1 bucket list item is to see a kamelot reunion with Khan while he still has his voice. Never did get to see him with them. A boy can dream...
1. Elizabeth(one cold winter night), 2. Memento Mori(Live at Belgrade) 3. A Sailorman´s Hymn(The Expedition)
Nihts of arabia, live from the expedition.. wow.. definitely my favorite live performance by Roy
Rhydin
THE VOICE OF GOD HEIL KHAN LONG LIVE TO THE KHAN!!!!
Love his style and his vocals are awesome! \m/
In my opinion, Khan's best moment is "Forever" @ One Cold Winter's Night
One of my all time favorite singers.
He came back as singer in the band conception. The best vocals of the metal music
Yes,Khan in Conception - it was, i think, the best in progpower and heavy music..And i highly hope that Conception will be reunited to make a GREAT AND BEST ALBUM EVER!!!!Khan, please, make it for us))))))))And sorry for my eanglish, if a had a mistakes ;)
he's back conceptionmusic
@@igorrumao and they did make the best album ever!
Amo la voz de roy khan, tiene el falsete más hermoso que haya escuchado jamás!
Roy Khan, Geoff Tate, Midnight. Three vocalists who can never truly be replaced. (and don't give me none of that shit about LaTorre being better in Queensryche. He couldn't touch Tate in his prime). All three are missed. Of course, Geoff's still around but not in Queensryche and while I still love his voice i'm unfortunately in the minority nowadays.
ROY IS THE BEST EVER
jan shouse I'd argue Geoff in his prime could give him a run for his money. Then again I believe Roy was classically trained too and capable of opera vocals. Then again I think Geoff could've pulled them off back in the day.
Either way, you can't replace vocalists of their unique calibre. It just doesn't happen.
***** I wasn't really trying to pit them against each other. Just responding with my opinion to the person labelling him as the "best ever". Really, the is no best. It's all individual taste.
#ROYception
#KHANmelot
The Beautiful voice!!!
I'm quite happy I've met the man.
@I3lindGuardian I would pick Emotional value > Proper technique anyday. The emotions are written all over his face in every live performance, thats why his stage presence is off the charts
Que voz !!! me apaixonei!!!
Best Singer i have heard !
roy khan......o voce de exceptie.....wow!de fiecare data cind ascult....wow...what a voice.....amazing!
with that voice he could do ANY type of music!
Why, oh why my Khan, have you abandoned me (us).......the news that Roy Khan has left Kamelot has left me sad that I'll never see him perform live with the band. I hope he goes on to other endeavors and I'm sure he'll be successful in anything he does.
Wonderful voice!!!
Conception is BACK!
Ya regreso conception
@@jorge6374 New ALBUM COMING OOOOUUUUUUTTT
This guy has an amazing voice.
Oh my dear GOD!!!!!!!!!!!
The live version of Nights of Arabia is as good as studio version!!! Or I dare to say even BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it!!!!
I thought it was studio version until I read the letters beneath the title!!! Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He`s the best singer ever!!!!
King of Feeling!
Voice of a God! That will forever be missed :'(
He is back. ;)
Roy Khan is a amazing metal vocalist❤
That is also true :-P Anyway, Conception has really been the best European progressive/power metal band ever...
The live version of Elizabeth is the best live performance I've ever heard (though of course it was hard to compare to EVERY SINGLE OTHER SONG from One Cold Winter's Night). I get chills the whole way through literally every time I listen to it.
Khan is a beast !!
I am 29, when I was 17 I didn't even know a band named Kamelot. But Conception was already a very big name and famous.
i want to hear it again!!!
Showed my friend Roy. He said he was pretty good. Needless to say he's doing pretty good in the hospital. Saying pretty good does not do Roy Justice.
I love Kamelot!
well, it depends on taste. There is not a weak Conception song really. I just mentioned some recommended tracks for first-timers
5:38 специально пересмотрела, не использует ли он какую-нибудь примочку на микрофон.
He's the best❤
Roy ya regreso con conception me alegra que haya vuelto el rentorno busquen sus canciones grand again
I am happy for both Roy finding his true calling and Kamelot for carrying on. I support them both but I couldn't sit through a live show with the new vocalist. Sigh.
Fully with you.
+igottmituns I agree that Roy is pretty much THE voice of Kamelot but Tommy is actually a really insane vocalist. Sure, not the same as Roy (no one is), but he has done a pretty decent job of replicating Khan's style and stage presence.
+jacobjedi2 I saw Kamelot in 2013, with Tommy, and he did a really good job. No one can replace Roy, but Tommy really does a great job, and handles Roy's songs really well. Even keeps his spirit alive with the Forever performance. It was a really good show.
I first heard Kamelot a couple years back, and while Tommy is really good indeed, I have to admit Roy is far better.
Of course. Roy is one of the best singers to ever grace this world =P I love Tommy, but everytime I hear an original Kamelot song, it just reminds me of how great Roy is.
Thank you for this video. Bravo
Even if i'm 17 old i
Conception is awesome dude ...
Listen to Silent Crying :)
Or The Promiser
You will see many parts of Kamelot in Conception.
Like March of Mephisto a bit inspired of My Decision by Conception.
Roy Khan 🔥🔥🔥🖤
@lucymalak90 I agree I think the live version is better than the studio version. Especially during the slow section.
@Lyontnmetal6
You can find the live album on iTunes, the whole thing is amazing.
@I3lindGuardian Perhaps touring does that to any artist though. I still think Roy has retained most of the vocal range unlike other popular singers who've had no training. Tony kako from sonata arctica is a good example :o?
A mais bela voz que meus ouvidos já escutaram! realmente toca a alma e o coração💘
Tá na minha lista dos 3 maiores no power metal
back to sing for us Roy Khan !!!! *--------*
Oh my God ❤❤❤❤❤
The man who there's no copy of his voice, not even bad copy
Well, I was born in '92 so all I know is roy in Kamelot, although I wish I could more stuff from Conception, his vocal are pretty awesome, i feel like i missed out on something big
so perfect Roy *---*
His live performance of memento mori from ghost opera the second coming was really nice
@RapsodiaPower he was being sarcastic.
Beginning of "Edge of paradise" definitely belongs as number one
FUCKIN AWSUM, SEEN ROY SING WITH CONCEPTION MID 90S IN UK SUPPORTING GOTH ROCKERS SKYCLAD, WAS TOTALY BLOWN AWAY BY CONCEPTION, WHAT A FUKKIN VOCALIST,,,,TOP GEEZER
Meu segundo vocalista preferido
nights of arabia is clean, is one of the best kamelot i´ve heard (without taking into account epica and after). i really like the latest kamelot albums
It is definitely more popular than in the US, but certainly not mainstream. Out of 100 people probably 5-10 (depending on where you live) would listen to this. Since i live in Germany probably it's more for me ^^. Metal is like the 3rd mainstream after pop and hip hop over here!
And Seventh Wonder would be a sorta new band (lead singer now also lead singer of Kamelot). Also Sonata Arctica and Rhapsody of Fire, though they aren't really new either ^^
@Neueregel
Actually I would chose Ark as the best european prog band (Tore Ostby is in both), but I agree with you: Khan's voice was way better in his Conception era, now is pretty different but is NOT bad at all
Tore is one of my favorite people
The chorus of "Until Kingdom Come" from Expedition is stunning. I like it better than the studio version with less of the choir an more of Khan.
i love RK
I think, Parallel minds and The Promiser it's from 1993, just noticed:)
Where can one get the version of Nights of Arabia you have on this video? My God... It's AWESOME!
@I3lindGuardian isn't roy a trained opera singer?
@Lyontnmetal6 Can't entirely remember now, but yeah I have the album. Probably got it shared.
"So true" . Yes, because I am a guy that speaks truths. Check the Khan TOP-5 (all off Conception) : 1. Soliloquy 2. A Million Gods 3. A Virtual Lovestory 4.Silent Crying 5. Cardinal Sin
@Lyontnmetal6 It's the live album The Expedition, its pretty rare. You probably won't be able to find it anywhere other than the Internet. You could always try torrents :P
It's really depressing to me that there isn't video from this live album. Cause on Cold Winter's Night....yeah, it's good, but not THAT good....one of the very few songs from Expedition's recordings that I think is better than his performances later on.
Es perfecto
I didn't know the early years... But just perfekt!
So true.
@Neueregel Except for I put Conception songs high in both lists?
@fjtoledano Cool. I am also a Conception fan since 1999. My top-5 Khan performances (songs) - '1.Soliloquy 2. AVirtual Lovestory 3.In Your Multitude 3.The Last Sunset 5.Parallel Minds
@Neueregel totally agree whit you
Sorry bro, Kamelot > Conception. Though I have to say, Roy definitely lost quite a bit of his higher register later on with Kamelot.
Roy the great
All of their songs are on youtube (TLS - Flow, look up the tracklists), including bonus tracks and EP-stuff, if you look close enough. Have fun, it takes some getting used too, but it is ATLEAST as good as Kamelot (love 'em) . The songwriting is slightly better imo, while Østby is WAY better than Youngblood in most aspects (He's like a fusion of Malmsteen, DeGarmo and Di Meola...)
Abandoned is fucking killer. Live version is just perfect
Hello, I am from the US... anyone on here that is familiar with the music scene "over there"... is it truly like this? Is there much music like this in the mainstream? Are there any new bands that are like this? Thank you.
Over where? Regardless, there's nowhere on the planet where the top 40 is dominated by prog power, no.
@Lyontnmetal6 _It's not so rare, it's an official album that you can find also on internet to buy ;)
Agree with abandoned, elizabeth, and nights of arabia. however, I think Forever in Oslo is missing! that was most certainly top 3 for me!
Well, it's a matter of taste. Kamelot totally made their landmark in the 00's, I love records like Karma, Ghost Opera or The Black Halo but I still believe that Conception would have made even greater music than Kamelot, had they stayed together. I tell this with a hint of objectiveness, because I listen to these bands for 10+ years now, so it's not that I'm a very recent crazy fanboy or something.
time will tell
Add In your Multitude, Gethsemane, Bowed down with sorrow and Silver Shine. Actually add everything ;)
@zorland876 Ah ok thanks haha! Where did you get it? Do you have the album? =O
@fjtoledano If not the best.. definitely inside the top-3 inside the European prog-metal history
Im looking for a live video of roy khan like #2 on the list. It was before the song began and he was just humming which went higher and higher anyone know?
I think you might be talking about The Edge of Paradise? The bit he was singing before is called Interlude I: Opiate Soul on the studio version.
