I just found the 3,5'' disks my friend gave me at school with exactly this demo on it. I still was very young and spend months to understand how you can use Blitter and Copper after that. Result: bad grades in school but I became very good in coding certain effects. Today i give lectures in CUDA programming at our university and I always tell my students about this times and how it all started... Most are amazed about what was possible back then!
always wanted this one, and very intresting Cloanto's Amiga Forever package does not have it as standard... You'd think with a fine product, why they didn't bundle it with some jaw-droppping demo i'll never know..
That would be like supplying you with all the pieces to asemble a computer, but there is nothing to mount it to.
yeah, the shader scene is close to the demoscene, but never understood why it never really took of

@@Tech-geekyWhich is exactly what I do on another platform, including reverse engineering, pcb routing and (very limited) coding. But then again your comment perfectly shows where Amiga sadly has gone.

Still listening to this song sometimes. It made a lasting impression when I heard it at my friends house in mid-90's, then copied the demo from him. Still better than most stuff on radio. The melody is just basically a hit song without vocals.... if it had vocals, everyone would know about it. Now just Amiga people know it
8 years since posting and 30 since made, I went PC in 97, I wish Amiga had been managed correctly, we would have had a very different platform. I wanted it, I would have bought it.

I remember seeing this demo for the first time and loved how the Amiga demos started getting really good 3D graphics effects in the early 90s. I wish each demo came with a readme file that described how the effects were done. And source code :)

Nowadays they dont do such mellow trackmusic anymore and what comes to demo, amiga rules rotating and zooming at the same time makes me old amigist always kind of proud and present day it cant be too much addressed!

Always preferred the music in part 1 but the whole demo is killer. Along with State of the Art, Nine Fingers, Jesus on e’s and Technological Death for being etched in my memory from 30+ years ago.

I am wondering how the real time sprite scaling and rotation part at 4:37 is achieved. They said the Amiga could not do that...
"They" said many things. Amiga fought back :)
I would guess that multiple versions, at different degrees, are loaded from disk and then it sheers each one to mix to the next. The zoom is just standard modulo and X scroll zooming.
You know, the girl I used to have a pretty big crush on back in middle and high school was born in November 1992.

PCs needed 1992/1993 i486dx and Pentium brute force to knock out a 1985 Amiga system design (and later enhancements).

Is it possible to have soften pixels in Amiga Forever software like this demo shows? I hate blocky pixels. I had Amiga 600 and 14 inch color tv 1993 and everything were so perfect to watch. Amiga Forever shows blocky pixels so sharp that my eyes hurt.
Good old CRTs sharpens picture and avoid pixelation, LCDs simply can't. It's not related to software you use.

Great demo... However i like how all developers demos/cratros etc,, tried to out-do one another in terms of what can be accomplished on the Amiga..
Today, we'd call that 'child-ish', but i guess back then non-one knew better ...
Obviously you'd probably get *** off if some work is better than yours, or label others as "smart-asses", but who really cares ?
IT'S JUST A DEMO... It's not gonna kill ya to say someone else is better is it?
